Adrien Garnier

Restaurant Manager

Adrien Garnier was born in Annonay in the south of France. He left home when he was 15 to attend college in St. Etienne, where he studied all aspects of hospitality including service, cooking and hotel management.

After three years at college in St. Etienne, Adrien went to Dijon in Burgundy to further his studies, where he focussed on the business management side of the industry. During this course Adrien completed a four-month work placement at Marlfield House luxury hotel in County Wexford, Ireland.

Following this, Adrien worked as a commis sommelier at Le Prieuré- a Michelin starred restaurant in Avignon. This experience confirmed Adrien’s passion for wine, and he completed his studies in Avignon in 2018 with a year-long Sommelier qualification. While studying in Avignon, Adrien worked as a sommelier at Vinotage- a gastronomic wine bar on a barge on the Rhône. This was integral to Adrien’s learning, as he was able to gain knowledge of several new and different aspects of the wine trade including organic and natural wines and wines from small vineyards.

After two years at Vinotage, Adrien left France for Birmingham. He joined the Purnell’s family in February 2020, just before the pandemic hit. Since then, he has become an incredibly popular member of the team. His knowledge and love for wines from all over the world inspires some wonderful wine flights for our guests to enjoy.

Now it is Adrien’s turn to shine and we are all very excited as to where he will take us.

Adrien’s ‘food heaven’ is cheese, which he enjoys with a lovely cold glass of Burgundy white wine!
